I woke up in the middle of the night in Lawrence's house, a Nigerian friend I meet in a college in Ghana, and picked up my sharp flip-mobile phone lying at the right top corner of my bed. Opening the phone, I saw the display read 3 A.M. I heard a sound but did not know were it was coming from so, I paid attention to know who is making the sound and were it was coming from. "Croak, croak, croak," the sound came again and I realize it was a frog at the back of my window. I closed my mobile phone and tried to sleep again, but could not. Suddenly, my mind went straight to my entry visa that would expire the following week ending. while thinking on how to extend it I realize I had no money for the documentation and for the re-newer fees and can not go home to Nigeria were I am from came because I had register for a four months training program. The money which my sister in Italy who is sponsoring me sent two months ago had finished and the last time I spoke with her on phone she said "Moses, I do not have any money now because I am not working." When I remembered my sisters last statement I was filled with fear and anxiety, and my heart pounded because I had no other sponsor except her. I said to myself "should I pack my luggage and go back to my country Nigeria? even if I should go, would I fly in the air without wings or maybe jorney on foot for many kilometers with my luggage on my head?" I had no answer and I was confused.
I changed my position, facing the roof of the building I opened my eyes in the dark room and said, "God, were are you?", but He did not answer. I was hopeless and don't know what to do, so I stood up and dressed. After dressing, I open the door and with my phone in my pocket, stepped silently into the sitting room, feeling full of distress in my heart.
I went straight to the wall and switched on the light. I sat at the center table not knowing what to do next. Nothing came into my mind, so I stood up with my mouth open. What came out was "God I need you at this hour." I poured out my heart to God for an hour, walking around the room silently.
"Cock-a-do-doodle-doo! Cock-a-do-doodle-doo! Cock-a-do-doodle-doo!", the cock crows.
I felt tired, so I laid down on a three-seater long chair and slept off.
The noise of the little children going to school woke me up, so I opened my eyes and rubbed my left hand on my face. I reflected over what had happened before I slept off. "Oh, I had a dream," I said to myself. My brain grabbed the message, passed it to my memory and my mind picked it up. I picked my phone and called Nicholas who has been like a father to me since I came to Ghana. He is the head of the church were I worship, Global Evangelical Church Community 4, Tema. When he picked my call I said, "hello sir." He responded "hello Moses, and how are you?" I replied, "I'm not fine, sir."He asked, "Oh, why are you not fine?" So I explained to him what I was going through. After I had told him everything, he said, "Moses that is not a problem you should worry about. I will call an immigration officer who is a member of the church and give you the feedback or tell him to call you."
A few minutes later my phone rang and I picked it without checking the number. "Hello, hello," I answered. A cool male voice responded and I felt relieved. He said "is that Moses?" I replied, "yes," I will help you out and I assure you that your extension permit has been granted," he informed me. I was overwhelmed with joy and I whispered "THANK YOU GOD."
