The Targu mures Zoo is bordered by a vast oak and hornbeam forest known as the Big Forest. People keen on nature and hiking can take many mini-routes here. In 1965 the area intended to the zoo was extended to 20 hectares, being followed by the construction of the first establishment namely the "House of Lion," between 1965-1967. In 1986, the bears home was completed in parallel with the arrangement of an adequate space for other animals.
